Adjectif Qualificatif - Adjective

The adjective qualifier is a word that expresses a quality of the object or the person. It agrees with a number and gender that qualifies.

Mon frère est méchant. - (My brother is naughty)
Ma soeur est méchante. - (My sister is naughty)
Mes cousins sont méchants/méchantes - (My cousins are naughty)

An adjective is an epithet when it is placed next to a name it qualifies. It becomes an attribute when it is separated from the noun by a verb.

C’est une fille gentille. - (she is a kind girl)
Cette fille est gentille. - (this girl is kind)
Cette fille semble gentille. - (this girl seems kind)

Explanation:

In the 1st sentence the adjectif qualicatif is epithet because it is placed directly next to the noun.

But in the 2nd and 3rd sentence adjectif qualicatif becomes an attribute because it is separated from the noun by a verb.
