Exceptions
French has two genders, masculine and feminine. Most of the words ending with “e” are considered to be feminine but with some exceptions. Ex : le visage,le livre,le singe etc.
On the other hand you can find quite a few words that are not ending with “e” but considered to be feminine. Ex : La maison,la forêt,la main etc.
The easiest way to master the gender is to learn the exceptions and the rest is mastered automatically.
Do keep in mind that it is always better to learn French nouns with articles so that you do not have the gender ambiguities while learning.
